The Nut Stomp

As we care for our local keystone species, the oak, through prescribed wildfires, we also in turn joyously receive its plentiful crop: the acorn.

Last year, we hosted a celebration with over 50 community members to learn aspects of acorn processing, enjoy nut-based foods with a friendly cooking competition, and dance together.

The Nut Stomp is a celebration of local plenty, as well as an opportunity for the community to come together to learn about and process a nutritious source of local food.

As we carry on this tradition from year to year, we build a local infrastructure for sustainably gleaning, processing, and sharing this abundant local crop with the community.

Our Vision

  • create a self-sustaining community gleaning network of acorn foragers

  • mentor community members in processing techniques

  • Acquire all acorn processing equipment for community use

  • mentor community members in food preparation using acorn flour

  • Create dispersion networks for acorn flour/goods to be shared throughout the community

The Nut Stomp 2027 will be in November. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram for updates @commonskeepers.
