The Nut Stomp
As we care for our local keystone species, the oak, through prescribed wildfires, we also in turn joyously receive its plentiful crop: the acorn.
Last year, we hosted a celebration with over 50 community members to learn aspects of acorn processing, enjoy nut-based foods with a friendly cooking competition, and dance together.
The Nut Stomp is a celebration of local plenty, as well as an opportunity for the community to come together to learn about and process a nutritious source of local food.
As we carry on this tradition from year to year, we build a local infrastructure for sustainably gleaning, processing, and sharing this abundant local crop with the community.
Our Vision
create a self-sustaining community gleaning network of acorn foragers
mentor community members in processing techniques
Acquire all acorn processing equipment for community use
mentor community members in food preparation using acorn flour
Create dispersion networks for acorn flour/goods to be shared throughout the community
The Nut Stomp 2027 will be in November. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram for updates @commonskeepers.
